As continuous casting evolved, manufacturers pursued a reliable way to produce hollow iron bars for applications such as piston rings, sleeves, and thin-walled components. Starting from tubes significantly reduces machining time and scrap compared to solid bars.
Breakthroughs in the 1990s were led by Xi’an University of Technology, with the first commercially successful tubes produced in 2010. Hualong Precision Manufacturing helped advance the technology, licensed the process, and later published JB/T 12282, the Chinese standard for continuous cast iron hollow profiles.
Today, HBar tubes are available in a wide range of grades and sizes, delivering material efficiency, reduced scrap, and consistent performance.
